The College of Physicians and Surgeons of B.C. (CPSBC) has ended its professional misconduct case against Dr. Charles Hoffe, a doctor who publicly raised concerns about COVID-19 vaccine harms. The case, initiated in February 2022, accused Hoffe of spreading misinformation about COVID-19 treatments starting in April 2021. However, they abandoned the case in February 2025, stating it had dragged on too long. Hoffe believes this is an admission of his correctness, particularly after the disciplinary tribunal rejected the college’s request to restrict defense testimony, which could have resulted in a likely loss for the college.

Hoffe, who never posted on social media himself, contends that his actions were in response to invitations from organizers. Despite the potential career risks, he defends his actions as ethically correct. Although Hoffe did not fear losing his license, he considered a fine possible. The dropping of charges hasn’t yet restored his hospital privileges lost earlier due to his outspoken stance.

Dr. Hoffe joins Barry in conversation about his experience and the huge personal cost he paid standing up against a politically compromised regulator.
