As Canada’ most consequential 2025 federal election is now behind us we must consider what is next. Tomorrow, Prime Minister Carney will be announcing his Cabinet. Who will get the key offices? What will be the policies that the mandate letters from the PMO tell Cabinet ministers they must do. Mr. Carney’s election has already started serious discussion in Alberta about separation from Canada. Mark Carney, a former central banker and globalist, leading the Liberal Party, while the country wrestles with profound regional tensions, exacerbated by Carney’s ambitious carbon tax policies and his antagonistic stance towards the oil and gas sector. These policies have reignited fears of Western alienation, particularly in resource-rich Alberta, where the possibility of secession looms if federal mandates clash with provincial interests.
