Dear Supporters of the First Freedoms Foundation,
As we reflect on the activities and impact of our organization in 2024, we are grateful for your continued support and commitment to preserving and promoting fundamental freedoms in Canada. This year has been marked by significant discussions and developments surrounding free speech, individual rights, and the responsibilities we share as citizens. Through a diverse range of platforms—including op-ed pieces, interviews, and public lectures—we have engaged with pressing issues that resonate deeply within our society.
In our collective efforts, we highlighted pivotal moments such as the Federal Court’s ruling on the Trudeau government’s invocation of the Emergencies Act, which affirmed the serious encroachment on constitutional rights. Our interviews and discussions explored the implications of this decision within the context of the Trucker Convoy and the broader landscape of Canadian democracy. Additionally, we tackled critical legislation like Bill C-63, raising awareness about the potential threats to free speech and open dialogue in our digital age. The conversations sparked this year have not only underscored the challenges we face but have also inspired a renewed commitment among Canadians to champion the principles of freedom and justice.
As we move into 2025, we remain dedicated to fostering awareness and dialogue on these essential topics. Together, we can ensure that the values we hold dear continue to flourish. Thank you for standing with us in this important work. Here is a list of some of our work during this last year:

Three Minute Interview with Stephen LeDrew
What Impact Will The Trucker Convoy Have On Canada? The Trucker Convoy is being viewed as more legitimate by many Canadians, now that the Federal Court has adjudged that the Trudeau Government acted illegally by imposing the Emergencies Act. Will we see any change, or lasting impact, as a result of the protest? Barry Bussey is with the First Freedom’s Foundation – he joins Stephen LeDrew to discuss this for Three Minutes.
Did The Trucker Convoy Change The Political Landscape In Canada? The recent Federal Court decision might change some peoples’ opinion of the Trucker’s convoy, since it decided that the Trudeau Government imposition of the Emergencies Act was an egregious violation of constitutional rights. Will the convoy, the protest, or this ruling have any long-standing impact on Canada? Barry Bussey is with the First Freedoms Foundation – he authored the book entitled “210 Degrees Celsius”- an analysis about the convoy and protest. He joins Stephen LeDrew to discuss this for Three Minutes.
It’s Official – Trudeau Acted Illegally Using The Emergencies Act Against The Truckers A ruling from Federal Court Justice Richard Mosley has declared that Justin Trudeau’s use of the Emergencies Act was a serious infringement of constitutional rights. This is vindication in the face of the mainstream media that painted the protesters in an unfavourable light – some media funded by the PMO went so far as to paint them as Nazi’s. Barry Bussey is with the First Freedom’s Foundation, and he joins Stephen LeDrew to explain this important decision.

2024 DIEFENBAKER LECTURE
Dr. Julie Ponesse gave the 2024 Diefenbaker Lecture which was warmly received.
“What I’d like to do tonight is to tell you a story. A story that takes us to the heights of human ingenuity and the depths of civilizational collapse. It’s a story that takes us through history, literature, social psychology, philosophy, and even some theology. It’s a story that starts from the idea that we need to understand the past, not through the lens of what has been done to us, but as the first step towards our future we can make and not be forced into, a step toward our humanity rather than a turning away from it.
